How To Appeal A Parking Ticket

How you should appeal a parking ticket and the best basis for appeal of any given parking ticket depends on a number of factors. All appeals are NOT the same. And telling a sob story virtually never works.

In the United Kingdom, parking tickets can be broadly divided into two categories: Private Parking Tickets and those issued by Councils.

PCN Warrior can help you appeal PCNs (Parking Charge Notices) which are issued by private parking operators. This label covers any company that is not a City or County Council.

Private Versus Council: What's The Difference?

A city or county council is a public statutory body. They are essentially part of the government and therefore have different powers than a private parking company.

A private parking company is just a company like your local corner shop. They have no real power any more than you or I, but they like to pretend and give the impression that they do.

Private Parking Companies can ONLY issue you with a Parking Charge Notice.

Councils will issue you with a Penalty Charge Notice.

The two are different. And are to be treated very differently.

What Is A Parking Charge Notice?

A Parking Charge Notice is ultimately an invoice. It may be formatted in a very authoritative way but it's no different from an invoice issued by any other comapany or tradesperson.

This ultimately means that if you refuse to pay, the only way the parking company can get you to pay is by taking you to court. They cannot send bailiffs to your house. All they can do is try to bully and intimidate you into paying. They deal in fear.

And they can only do that because most of the British public do not know the laws governing the private parking industry. We created PCN Warrior to help you, the public, the little man, fight back. Legally.

About PCN Warrior

Let's face it, most often, you get a parking ticket because you made a mistake. Either you didn't know you were not allowed to park there, or you didn't know there was a time limit or it was dark and you couldn't see the lines demarking the bay. Very few of us park badly on purpose.

Because of that, we consider the private parking industry, on the whole, to be opportunistic. They try to capitalise on honest mistakes. And we think that Britain would be better without this type of financially predatory behaviour.

We created PCN Warrior to fight your parking charge appeals for you, to help you keep your hard earned money in your pocket and not the pockets of the undeserving parking companies.

Like we said, we're not lawyers - but to the best of our knowledge, yes.

After all, all the knowledge and information presented by PCN Warrior is freely available on the Intenet. All we've really done is tried to package and present it in a way that we think is easier to understand than some of the other resources on this subject.
